VICTORIA’S RECORD OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS
As State Assemblywoman
As an Assemblywoman in the 2015 NV Legislative Session, Victoria was the main sponsor of three significant pieces of legislation that were passed and became law that had a positive impact on the lives of her constituents and Nevadans in general:
- The Squatter Bill gave police the legal authority to remove people from occupying a dwelling without permission. Helping end a real estate crisis.
- The Guardianship Bill ended years of senior abuse and gave families greater control over their loved one's affairs.
- The Occupational Licensing Reform Bill created a new make-up artist industry providing schooling and job opportunities.
As a City Councilwoman for Ward Two
Victora expanded athletic opportunities in Ward 2 by turning the Pavilion Pool into an aquatic competition facility. That will allow Las Vegas to hold national swimming tournaments and support local swim teams like our Sandpipers, which sent swimmers to the 2020 Olympics, where they won 4 medals.
For the last three years, Victoria has been working on bringing a world-class children’s hospital to the valley, so parents won’t have to go to other states for their children’s medical care.
She has a proven track record of listening to her constituents in resolving over 3000 of their issues and concerns and hosting her “Breakfast Buzz” meetings, allowing residents to address their concerns firsthand with her and members of law enforcement.
Helped enact the Camping Ban, an essential tool that protected property rights and allowed us to direct unhoused individuals to needed services.
She has supported our small business community by promoting over 180 businesses as part of her “Small Business Saturday” program. In addition to sending out monthly birthday cards promoting local businesses and hosting roundtables connecting businesses to vital services.
She led the fight to bring about historic changes to the contract with the Animal Foundation. She has worked tirelessly to bring real oversight and accountability to the Animal Foundation. This new contract gives the city a voice in their operations, finances, and communications. It requires the acceptance of lost animals on a walk-in basis. Most importantly, it allows the city to purchase the shelter building from the foundation for a significantly reduced price, enabling us to put out a request for proposal (RFP) next year, which gives us the possibility of bringing in a new operator in 2025.
She supported the opening of a thriving bi-lingual city charter school. Creating a tremendous educational opportunity for children.
She is working closely with the Foundation for Recovery and other non-profits to ensure they have what they need to serve those suffering from substance abuse disorder.
